Directors & Audit:
Join us and your peers for this intensive ½ day workshop focusing on your role as a member of the board’s Audit Committee. With continued focus by the regulators on the board’s exercise of its oversight responsibilities, this workshop provides the opportunity for you to hear best practices from an industry expert, learn how your peers are approaching the Audit Committee function and leave with new approaches to common challenges. The following are some of the topics to be discussed at this must attend event:
• Changes in the role and function of the audit commtee in recent years (with a discussion committee charter – do you need one? If you have one, is it time to update it?)

Directors & ALCO:
Is your ALCO committee truly aware of the myriad of responsibilities it faces in managing the bank’s risk positions? Does it have the tools necessary to do their job adequately?
In the first half of the program, we will examine the risk measurement systems used in banks today and illustrate the importance of balanced strategic financial goals to the overall ALCO risk management process. In addition, we’ll explore the establishment of a strategy that is intended to integrate ALCO’s processes and decisions into your bank’s budget and planning processes. You will learn: the key components of an effective interest rate risk management process; the importance of understanding the role of core deposits in that process; how to calculate and implement balanced financial goals involving ROE, ROA, capital and assets; Lastly, we’ll provide insights on the effective composition and management of ALCO.
In the second half of the program, we focus on High Performance Bank Portfolios focusing on the characteristics that determine whether an investment portfolio is built for high performance, irrespective of nominal interest rates. Included are some suggestions for achieving the top quartile for your investments and Portfolio Management in the New Rate Era.
The last portion of the workshop focuses on Portfolio Management in the New Rate Era. We’ll review recent comments from the Fed officials in an attempt to discern near-term monetary policy and learn what products have a reasonable chance for outperformance.
